CERTIFICATION OF DOCUMENTS
When you are asked to provide certified copies of documentation, this means copies authorised or stamped as being true copies of originals by one of the following:
- An Australian JP or Commissioner for Declarations
- An Israeli Notary Public “NOTARION”;
- An Israeli or Palestinian practicing lawyer; or
- The body who issued/originated the documents.
The Embassy does not have a list of recommended notaries/lawyers. All notaries/lawyers legally registered in the country are suitable.
Please note that our office is unable to provide certification or photocopying services.
HEALTH CHECKS
In most cases, you are not required to undergo any health checks in relation to your application. In limited circumstances, the Embassy will invite you to undergo some health checks after you lodge your application. Please do not undergo any health checks unless you are invited to do so by the Embassy after you lodge your application.
OTHER IMPORTANT MATTERS
Applications for student visas are processed according to the date of commencement of studies. This means, that although you may have lodged your application before other students, their application may be processed first, if their studies commence before yours.
Under current policy, the visa, if granted, cannot be given to the student more than 4 months prior to the commencement of studies. Please note that you may be invited to attend an interview at any stage of the processing of your application. If you are invited to attend an interview, you must attend in person. Other people cannot attend on your behalf. Additionally, requesting an interview at another location will result in significant processing delays and you may be risking missing your studies. If you do not make yourself available to attend an interview or provide additional information, if required, this may lead to the refusal of your application. It is not possible to obtain the visa while you are in Australia on another visa.
Please note that under Australian law, the granting of any new visa automatically cancels existing visas. That is, if you hold a visitor visa to Australia, your visa will automatically cease when your student visa is granted. Likewise, if you are granted a student visa and subsequently obtain a visitor visa, your student visa will automatically cease to be in effect.
You should not make final travel arrangements before you receive your visa from our Office.
A decision on your application may be made on the basis of the information provided in your application without further contact with you. Please ensure that all the information and documentary evidence is lodged with your application.
Please contact our office for an appointment to lodge your application in person. This is the recommended method of lodgement as it provides both you and our office the opportunity to examine and assess the application at the time of lodgement. For appointments please contact us by e-mail at immigration.telaviv@dfat.gov.au In most cases we will provide you with a checklist to ensure you have a complete application when you visit our office. Lodging an incomplete application may significantly delay the processing of your application and may also result in the refusal of your application.
