SUBCLASS 676 SHORT STAY VISITOR VISA.

This visa allows people to visit Australia for a holiday or recreation, or to visit family and/or friends. This visa may also be used for other short-term non-work purposes including study for less than three (3) months.

It is not possible to include family members in the same application. Each person, including children, must lodge a separate application and pay a separate processing fee.

Please note visa processing times set out below.  We encourage people with personal links in Australia (e.g. family and friends) to apply for their visas well in advance of travel and ensure they have a valid visa at all times while they have those links in Australia. We strongly encourage you to lodge your application at least a month prior to your planned travel.

Important notice: Please ignore the information provided in the application form in relation to the methods of payment of the processing fee and in relation to sending your application and receiving your passport back from our office. Instead, please strictly follow the guidelines provided below to facilitate the processing of your application.

Processing time:

The processing time service standard set by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship for subclass 676 visas is one month. (See: Service Standard for Visas for visiting Australia).

The processing time service standard in Tel Aviv is much quicker as outlined below. Nevertheless, we strongly encourage you to lodge your application at least a month prior to your planned travel.

Applications lodged through travel agents: 10 days. Your travel agent will send the application through the Association of Travel Agents or S.M Visa Services. This is the quickest method to obtain your visa. This is because some of the processing and billing steps are initiated by the travel industry. Your passport will be returned to you through your travel agent.

Applications lodged through other channels, including by mail or in person: 20 work days, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.

Please note that if you wish to lodge your application in person, you must contact our office by phone or e.mail to make an appointment.

IMPORTANT: passports lodged in person or by mail are not returned by mail. Instead, they are returned to you door to door with the courier service of the Association of Travel Agents. The cost of this service is NIS60 paid in cash directly to the couriers when they deliver your passport back to you. The couriers will contact you to arrange a suitable time for the delivery of your passport.

Palestinians residents of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip:
Palestinians residents of the West Bank and Gaza who are unable to use the services of travel agents in Israel or the services of the Israeli Postal Service may use ARAMEX to send their applications to our office and collect their passports/visas/documents back from our office. Processing fees may be paid to ARAMEX who will convert the fees into acceptable Israeli Postal Cheques.

To ensure you lodge a valid and complete application, please provide the following:

1. Application for a Visitor Short Stay (See: Form 48R or 48RHEB or 48RARA). You may also obtain the forms from your travel agent or by writing to: PO Box 29108, Tel Aviv 61290.

2. Processing fee in local currency (New Israeli Shekels) paid by a postal cheque payable to the Australian Embassy, Tel Aviv. Personal cheques, credit cards and cash are not acceptable. Please do not send any cash by mail. We cannot be responsible for the loss of cash sent by mail. For the list of fees please see: Charges. Please note fees and charges will increase for applications received on or after 1 January 2009.

3. One current passport photograph not older than 6 months.

4. Passport valid for at least the period of your proposed stay in Australia. Please note that your passport must remain at our office during the processing of your application.

5. For children under 18 completed and signed consent form ( See: Consent form) and certified copy of the child's birth certificate stating the names of the child's parents.

6. If you are 75 or above you must provide a letter from your travel agent or Kupat Kholim confirming that you have travel health insurance for the duration of your stay in Australia. You must also provide a medical certificate from one of the Embassy doctors confirming that you are fit to travel.

See: Doctor's List

Please note that there may be processing delays for various reasons. Please do not make final travel arrangements until you receive your passport back with a visa. Disruption of travel plans is not considered 'emergency' or exceptional. We strongly encourage you to lodge your application at least a month prior to your planned travel.

If you have a genuine emergency, such as the death or serious and sudden illness of a close relative in Australia or other exceptional circumstances, please contact our office by e-mail or by phone to discuss your situation and how we may be able to assist you.

Information on how to understand your visa validity, conditions and period of stay is available on the application form. Please read your visa label very carefully and note the validity, period of stay and conditions of your visa before you commence your travel.

Note: Special facilitative arrangements apply for holders of some non-Israeli passports.
