Dear traveller,
If you wish to travel to Austraila to participate in the World Youth Day (WYD), you will need to apply for a Tourist visa (Subclass 676). As a registered pilgrim you will be entitled to apply for your visa free of Australian Government charges by following the process listed below.
Please note that if you are a citizen of a European Union country you are eligible to submit an online visa application at any time free of government charges. To apply online please visit www.immi.gov.au/e_visa/visitors.htm
If you are not a citizen of a European Union country, or you wish to make a paper application, you will need to apply for a paper based Tourist visa (Subclass 676) in order to attend World Youth Day.
To make a paper based application follow these steps:
1. Print a copy of the application form (number 48R or 48RHEB or 48RARA– see below) and complete it
2. If you are under 18: Print out a copy of the parental consent form (number 1229 – see below) and ask your parents or guardians to complete it. You will also need to submit evidence of your relationship with your parent/ guardian (for example, a copy of your birth certificate) and a copy of identification for your parent/ guardian showing their signature (for example, a passport). Please attach the completed form 1229 and supporting documents to your application.
3. Prepare your supporting documentation:
• two passport sized photographs (no more than 6 months old)
• a copy of the page of your passport that shows your name and photograph;
• your original passport
4. Print a copy of the coversheet and complete it
5. Lodge your application with supporting documents at our office.
NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION BEFORE 1 NOVEMBER 2007 OR AFTER 1 JUNE 2008.
